One of my favorite organizations, a group that is neither revolutionary, nor do they guard anything. (Nor, arguably, are they very Islamic when it comes down to it.) Thus they are an ideal embodiment of authoritarian mendacity.
They are the opposite of what they claim — an unaccountable armed militia whose sole reason for existence is to selectively enforce the most reactionary policies of the entrenched state through hunting and violently oppressing the most vulnerable and marginalized members of their society.
Zelensky has a lot on his mind these days so I understand that this was not a top priority for him, but it is pleasing to see that he has freed up some time for the issue. I still dream of a day when Ukrainian unicorn soldiers and pokémon-patched veterans with cat-ear helmets meet up to celebrate with a legion of furious teenage Iranian girls, somewhere between the Caspian and the Black Sea, after each has overthrown their respective oppressors.
