Hi. Not sure if I’m asking in the right place, but I have this old knife which was brought back from WW2 by my uncle, along with a few German military hats. I’ve found out about the hats, but can’t find anything about this knife! It says Norsk Arbeit no3/0 on the sheath, but the blade is free of any marks or writing. Anyone have any ideas please?

The knife looks very much like a Swedish Mora-kniv.
Sami maybe 🤔
Looks like the knife I got from Sivilforsvaret when they threw away stuff.
Norsk Arbeit?
Sounds like something to do with Germany conscripting or even press-ganging Norwegian youths for work parties.
Could be a copy of a Swedish Mora knife made during the war when they couldn’t get them from Sweden and had them produced in Norway? Maybe Brusletto from 1943? But I’m unable to find anything more.
The Swedish knives with red handles were immensely popular
dette er en morakniv fra Øyo. Sikker på at det ikke sier norsk arbeid ?
3/0 er størrelsen på bladet
sorry, this is english translation
This is a morakniv from øyo, norway. are you sure its not saying Norsk Arbeid?
3/0 is the size of the blade =)
Vi called them Mora- kniv or tollekniv in my youth. We all had one.
Traditinol norwegian work knife (Mora) made in sweden. Name of knife: vintage Erik Frost Mora Sweden kniv. Often used by farmers, hunters, etc.
This is an «arbeidskniv» – work knife from Helle. Probably from 30s or 40s.
I wish I knew how to attach an image of it or found a reference online.
I saw these at the Helle factory last year and have photos.
Looks like a mora
Here’s the real source:

But your knife can have been made under license in Norway. The key to these knives is they use a special type of steel that is easy to sharpen, and it will stay VERY sharp for a long time’s use.
Sweedish
We call this a tollekniv.
This type of knive was typical use on construction sites in the 80-90. Maybe your uncle work for det Norwegian company Statens Vegvesen who built roads? The knife can be a gift from Norsk Arbeidermands trade union for long and faithful service. No 3 can be the number for møre og romsdal 😅
I see there is a lot of theory’s about the knifes origin, but knives like this one have been made a lot of since they are very popular. I associate these knives with wood working and carpentry but it have been used as an everyday tool for a lot of tasks.
