Haha call me German but I don’t see what the issue here is. 🤷♂️😅 they cleaned the snow in front of their property which is what they have to do. The other side must do the same and everything will be cleaned up.
So how many extra meters would you do in both directions to not be considered “german”?
1 house? 2 houses? Whole block? None?
I don’t get it. All I see are people who are not fulfilling their obligations.
I hate the rule to clean the sidewalk, most often, a thick snow layer is better to walk on, than the sidewalks where the snow was removed and then a new ice layer formed over night.
Why can we not enjoy winter wonder land for a while and be happy, that everything has to be slowed down a bit.

Been living in Germany for 5 years now and it makes sense to me. You can be nice an help out an elderly neighbour if they aren’t able of course we see this a lot but at some point it’s not your job to clear the whole street.
Why don’t we start taking everybody’s rubbish out for them whilst we are at it?

You see exactly the same in Canada. Even people clearing only their half of a staircase.
Do you expect them to clean the whole sidewalk?! They are not municipal workers. This is common sense.
I live here now, but I’m too Midwestern American for this nonsense! 😩 It’s a tiny drive, just be a good neighbor and do the whole job between the two plots!
I swear to god, if you do the part of your neighbour as well just because you want to be kind and loving and giving and what not, he will get pissed.
And? You should clean the street near yours house. But if you want, please, extra clean the street near my house.
Or compare that to the netherlands, where they just don’t clear the sidewalks at all.
I really don’t understand this clearing of light snow thing, generally i just makes a more slippery surface. The salt help for a bit, but then it just washes into the waterways.
