  1. What is that like a fiver per IP applicant in state care per month

If true (which I doubt), this statistic is a beacon of competence in a sea of enormous waste.

It’s also a shining emblem of how the people who these articles target for engagement are completely incapable of basic mathematics and/or thinking before being outraged.

  2. €66 per resident of IPAS a year. “33,000 people are currently resident”. Not really crazy a total when you break it down.

  3. What’s the solution here? We have no hard border and most enter from the north. We’d have to break the good Friday agreement to have a hard border and we’d have to leave various international agreements to not allow people to claim asylum as far as I know.
The only solution I can think of is huge detention centres where we process asylum applications but asylum seekers often have kids with them and I can’t see ireland putting kids in a detention centre.
Oh and the shitshow in the middle east is going to create new waves of migration to Europe. Thanks Israel.

  4. Nice to know my salary that’s taxed at 52% pays for this. Tell me again how this is a country that rewards hard working?

  5. That … doesn’t seem that bad?! Is this just one of those “migrants costs THIS much!” articles to wind people up with the headline?

  6. Can I get into that action. My car broke down. Is there a email or phone number. Thanks
