You can’t just sterilise any piece land forever because something bad happened there. Awful as the Mother and Baby Homes and associated institutions were this simply doesn’t merit permanent stasis.
The best thing the state can do to rectify its abdication of responsibility for past generations of Ireland’s youth is to provide present and future generations with housing.
There’s always an excuse *not* to build more houses or apartments…
Do the excavations if there’s an investigation to be done but dont keep it as just because something bad happened there.
Sounds like a perfect reason to build over it. Finally use the land for something good.
