





My papa’s journal from 1939, he lived in Finland but immigrated to Canada in his adult years. He would’ve been a child around this time, about 12 years old? He passed in 2012 but my family found this. I can’t read Finnish very well but these are some pictures of the journal. They are probably not in order.

Goodness me, this looks so much like my Mummi’s hand writing. Born in Finnish Karelia in the 1920’s.
Definitely a child’s handwriting. I wrote exactly like this when I was about ten years old, same style. Looks like he’s written down what news he’s hearing over the radio and from evacuated people. Some pages have time stamps ( 9th day 11th day).
It’s mostly listing the amount of deaths, wounded, equipment etc.
Hold on to that one, a very sentimental piece of history for your family!
