I got an email last week telling me they were increasing the prices, its ridiculous now.
Count your blessings DHL will charge you 15 quid for the pleasure.
Price increases, service gets worse.
Refuse to pay the admin fee.
I’m going to play devil’s advocate for a second – what do you feel would be a fair admin fee?
There’s a cost associated with bringing an import into the single market. It’s €4.95 but you don’t need to worry about any of that once it’s paid.
It’s annoying and I’ve had instances where an admin fee was charged to me but no admin was actually done (they charged me import VAT on textbooks which should be VAT exempt), but overall I think €4.95 for a few minutes of a worker’s time is fair enough.
A very good way of avoiding that cost is simply by buying European. The last few weeks have shown the necessities of that for all sorts of reasons.
Before they were €3.50, they were €10 and even then, they were the cheapest ones around.
