About time. The UK water industry is manifestly not fit for purposes. None of the promised benefits of privatization have come to pass.
>“A lot of people think you can just choose [special administration] … [but] you either are, or you aren’t, insolvent. And whatever people think of Thames at the moment, it isn’t technically insolvent,” she said.
So crack down on regulation and enforcement until they *are* insolvent. They are pouring shit and used tampons into rivers; that cannot be meeting required service levels.
Scotland and Northumberland are fine because they were never privatised, people have literally died in the Thames near where i live and they now carry £14bn in debt, I mean how bad does it have to get before something is done about it ?
She talks about this like it’s complicated, Feargal Sharkey’s solution to this is pretty foolproof and will force Thames Water into overnight insolvency, so why she’s acting like “its harder than activists think” WHERE? Cuz that private equity firm might be donating to the Labour party and you don’t want to piss them off?
Think the citizens need to do their bit and cancel their payments to these companies, en masse, under the reasoning of “not providing adequate service”
They’re happy to charge you for processing waste water but are just pouring literal shit into our waterways. If I can get a refund for a computer game that doesn’t deliver why can’t I do the same for the nectar of life. Water is so crucial and it’s like watching our demise in slow motion with these companies destroying it.
Bankrupt them all and renationalise, it’s long overdue.
Stop saying you’re “prepared” to do it and just f*****g do it already
