That had to be one crazy trial.
“M’lud on 28 Nov 2025 the accused stole a sword of death lightning a potion of supreme ownage and 10,000 gold dinkles from Noobslayer69696969.”
> “Lakeman was well aware what he was doing was wrong, and the hundreds of thousands of pounds he gained from selling the in-game items is no different to any other theft,” the investigator adds. “Just because it’s virtual, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t face the full force of the law.”
It’s good that this guy has been brought to justice, but it’s crazy that we _still_ see quotes like this from the police in 2026. Digital goods having real value is far from a novel concept.
Suspended sentence?! Should be 8 years hard labour in the goblin mines.
And I thought scamming players with ‘free armour trimming’ was bad.
Oh shit was that that mod who was fired years ago? Jesus that has taken a while. The story is hilarious though, the guy started showing up to work at jagex in like a Ferrari. Nice way to make it discrete dumbass
Reminds me of the heist the boy planned in Eve Online, he made loads of money
Terrible this happened but very funny they used that thumbnail.
Does that mean I should report the guy that scammed my £2200 in-game item from me to the police, or?
Why is the image they chose to show of Dock Johnson?
