Simple – child brings smartphone to school, then it’s confiscated permanently.
This will hit the parents pockets hard and ensure that they prevent their little crotch goblins heading to school with another smartphone.

get a bucket any one seen on there phone in class the phone gets put in the bucket they get it back at the end of class/day
Confiscate the phone permanently. Teach Hayden and his layabout parents a lesson.
Ban them from the premises, so the parent has to enforce it, and if a child is found with one, the parent either comes and collects it, or the child is suspended for a week.
My children’s school uses Yondr pouches. Simple solution to the problem
As someone who works in a school, it’s really funny to see the comments from people saying “it’s so easy just do this” and thinking “wow that’d never work in a million years”.
A faraday cage will work, you can actually buy panels that just screw in.
Then for teachers, they can use the schools internal wifi to communicate.
It might be expensive though, not sure these schools governments could afford a few million to install them.
I don’t really think wasting money on those phone patches would be a good spending of money. My school just said “no phones allowed. Use them to and from school but not in school. If you get caught with your phone, you hand it in and ur parent gets it from the office”.
Sure, some ppl didn’t follow that rule and used their phones secretly in school. But those same kids will still use their phones secretly or get around the pouches or anything the school tries to enforce.
It just isn’t worth the money.
The patent has to be involved.
If the child brings in a phone then the parent has to come take their child home and bring them back the following day. This counts as an unauthorised absences.
Get one too many of those and you get to go to court. So they have the choice of being a present or absent parent.
Anyone making an excuse for this is part of the reason our society is failing.
My kids have to turn them off and keep them in their school bags during the school day.
There will apparently be bag checks.
That way they have them on the way home and we can see where they are
Most foolish anti great technology ban ever. My old secondary allowed phones and we got to have our timetables on there which was great because it was easy to lose or destroy your physical one. Also allowed us to easily take pics of homework tasks, go on kahoot during chill times and have inter class competitions. Maybe even a quick revision by watching a YouTube video during the lunch time before a test.
Yet again a few bad students and bad schools unable to use the tech right have been allowed to ruin it for everyone. Forcing all schools to do it when many had their own good policies.
School IT technician here. It’s great fun working in a school which has implemented 1) a phone ban and 2) a school culture dependent on about five different apps. So when students need to log in to the the school PCs, they’re asked to scan a QR code in Microsoft Authenticator (thanks to a policy put in place from the trust higher up), if they want to check their timetable they have to log in to Arbor, and all their homework is delivered on Sparx or Microsoft Teams. When one of these doesn’t work on their phone, they come to my office to sort it and, when I say “OK, get your phone out”, they worriedly ask “…Is that OK?” I feel like I’m running a prohibition-era speakeasy! Might get one of those eye-level sliding panels fitted to the door…
My school just banned them in class. We could use them at break and lunch, idk why its complicated now
The DfE originally had the following to say:
>“We have been consistently clear that **mobile phones have no place in schools**, and the majority already prohibit them.”
So clear that the remain schools are doing the opposite. Perhaps more clarity is needed?

draconian and 2. Completely unfeasible
They have always been banned in class. The problem is that kids will just put an old phone in the box/bag and hide the real one on their body.
Seems like all our government can do is ban shit for headlines and then move on before they have to actually put in any real effort.
