Simply put, O’Callaghan is screwed. He can’t win this.

Thats a 93.2% drop in participation by solicitors
The legal system system simply cannot function at that low of a participation rate
To be clear, the old system absolutely did need reform, but he’s gone too far in the other direction to end up with a version that simply will not be accepted.
He’s facing a humiliating climbdown, its just a matter of how long he drags it on for
If anything this highlights the issue that our criminal justice system is dependent on, and can be held to ransom, by private individuals. This protest could see us move to a public defender style system in the future.
Is this “pressure” in the room with us? Let the solicitors cry, seethe and whinge. The general public are sick and tired of paying for people with 40 previous convictions to get a solicitor to drag proceedings out for 3+ appearances and getting rewarded handsomely for each one
