What’s with everyone going on strike all of a sudden?
Something to do with the budget?
I’m not too sure I agree with their action here. Their main problem seems to be the disparity in pay with the private sector but most people in trades in the private sector would have substantially higher costs. The €4.40 per hour mentioned would barely cover your those, if at all.
You don’t get the benefits of the public sector with private sector pay. I’ve no support for them, if they don’t like the pay they are free to leave for the private sector.
In this case, if they aren’t happy they could literally just go to the private sector. It’s not like a garda or a judge
That’s what I did when I worked in a transferable skills job. Eventually the conditions improved as they needed to stop attrition
