Its ai. Kids are using ai to do their homework for them and when it comes time to do the exam they are unable to answer.
The reforms made by the Tories allowed for this to happen. As much as I despise what they have done to this country, they completely revamped education for the better.
Seems a trend of british kids being trained to do well in abstract tests but have literally zero reasoning skills. At work we’ve tried to recruit school leavers as apprentices in varied fields like software development and marketing but there seems to be zero correlation between exam results and ability.
You can get someone who has 4 a GCSE maths who is better able to problem solve than one with a 9. We’ve ended up having to set our own tasks rather than rely on exam results at all.
I wonder how much this is skewed towards London. London schooling is massively more elite (on average) than the rest of the country.
This is objectively good news.
Conversations about how this translates into real world reasoning etc. are a separate discussion.
We really don’t have to try and find the negative spin on every single fucking story.
