Background: Neighbour has called the police with false accusations about domestic abuse, putting glue in her lock, etc. several times. Never been a problem that I keep the chain on before, but this time they insisted that I open it. I told them that the previous police told me I have the legal right, but I will open the door for them anyway but record it on video and just check later who's right. They were right and the previous police were wrong, but it was somehow still a hassle to let them let me open the door for them. 😆

  1. I don’t know who is right or wrong but you sound really annoying to deal with

  2. so you’ll “open the door for them anyway but record it on video” and for some reason, also decide to post it on Youtube? Even though you agree that the police were right and you were wrong?

I’m unsure what your point here is, but somehow I think it comes across very differently from what you intended.

  3. You sound extremely annoying and confrontational, and I wonder if those accusations were that false after all… Lights off, chain on, refusing to open the door while simultaneously yapping about “I’ll open it on video”, like what’s that all about? The police on the other hand seemed very professional.

  4. Well, when the police gets a call for domestic violence, they have to make sure everything is ok. So it’s understandable they don’t just take your word for it and leave.

Yeah, not sure what their reasoning was with the door but that’s just a short clip of the whole situation so can’t say much about it. Might be that they had to make sure they’re doing it right with their supervisor before allowing you to close the door and then open it. No idea.

Other than that, the police didn’t seem to be aggressive or anything. I know these kind of situations can be frustrating to people but you lost your calm needlessly – even if you didn’t do anything wrong.

If the neighbor is making shit up and making your life miserable for no reason, I suggest taking action with your landlord, housing cooperative, police, social workers or whatever suits the case best.

  5. These officers were way above the average. But you spoiled their day, they may have wanted to ram your door open.

  6. Seems like you’ve watched too many “encounters with police in the US” videos on Youtube. I don’t understand why you think being difficult is going to make your encounter with the police better. Having a legal right to be a dick doesn’t make it better for you to be a dick.
