Is this the date of manufacturing or expiry? Is it still good to drink?

  1. It’s the expiry date BUT in germany manufacturers are forced to print a date on their food / drinks. Since it’s tea you can drink it for a few more years as long as you store it in a dry place. I just checked my tea that’s in a drawer vor 1,5 years and it expires in may.

  2. Expiration date, but tea can be used way longer than that if you store it dry. Should be ok without problem.

  3. It’s the “best before” date. That does not mean that it “expires” and is suddenly bad. It just means that the manufacturer no longer guarantees it’s at the desired quality.

I would drink this without even thinking about it (if I liked chamomile tea).

With most foods, you can tell whether they are still OK (and that can be for ages after the date) by looking, smelling, and tasting them. In this case for instance, if the contents were clumpy, the tea bags had a weird colour, or it smelled bad (or rather worse than chamomile does anyway), you’d be able to tell that you shouldn’t drink it.

The only foods where the date actually means “don’t consume this after the date” are “use by” dates. Those typically apply to raw meat and so on.

  4. It’s just suggested expiry.

So much food is wasted that is still good to consume. They put expiration dates on honey or salt which is just insane but law is the law. The worst thing is that shops can’t give away to dogs shelters or charity slightly expired or close to expiration which creates insane food waste.

Those are just herbs you can drink them but the taste might not be as intense.

  5. It’s fine to drink as long as it’s not visibly moldy or tastes off. This will Probably taste just fine. Over the next few months or years the bags might lose their fragrance and taste but that’s about it.

In Germany, food safety standards are very high. So normally you can still safely eat most food that’s a few days over their expiration date.

I wouldn’t gamble with raw meat, but you definitely smell that before you taste it.

  6. Tea will be good for like another decade, might just not be as flavorful.

  7. It is the “Expiration / Best Before ” Date. You can drink it, but the manufacturer can not guarantee that the tea tastes as good. thats what the “Expiration / Best Before ” Date indicates.

  8. It’s just tea. If it looks normal and smell normal, it’s still good to use.

  9. It’s dried plant matter you douse in hot water. As long as it’s dry it’s fine.
