hi reddit finland, i am an american. i keep seeing instagram reels on my fyp that describe how finnish children learn to solve conflict. is “reflective listening” really the finnish way? it lowkey seems like gaslighting but idk im american.

  5. Almost everything you read/watch in instagram about Finland is wildly exaggerated, taken out of context or plain lies.

    Same goes for almost every “country X solves problem y for its citizens” posts.

    Unfortunately there is no secret sauce that nordic wellfare states have figured out.

  6. While they do have tunnetaidot (emotional development) class in the curriculum nowadays, they’re not teaching this AFAIK. My kids’ explanation of the class is more like “well we were thinking of reasons why we shouldnt bully”. Which is a good thing to learn, but not quite the level portrayed in the screenshots.
