These numbers keep calling me and I keep blocking them. They’re always from Brussels and they’re always a couple of numbers off after I blocked the other number. Now recently a number called me (+32 2 844 55 53) and this one is not flagged on sites as spam. Is this number spam as well? And how are the telephone numbers always nearly the same? Thanks!

  1. Scammers likely bought some number ranges and are automatically switching the from numbers after failed attempts

  2. Do you really think an honest person would want to contact you so bad that they purchase phone numbers in numerical succession to dodge your block attempts? Of course it’s a scam!

  3. Scammers use bots do do these calls, and they often use a whole range of phone numbers. They hope you’ll see a ‘missed call’ and call back, after which you end up on a very expensive premium-rate line without knowing. It’s all automated.

  4. I just got a call to. But my app told me it was spam. Same number as you.

So now i know for sure its a scam.

  5. I was stupid enough to pick up one of these call, it was “cardstop” tape, not even a real person.
Sorry for my ignorance, but how do they even scam like this?

  6. Has anyone noticed an uptick in these things the last few weeks? I don’t live in Belgium anymore, only use my phone number for my classes here and that’s just whatsapp and I’ve been getting spam again after a year of close to nothing..

  7. Last I checked it was a range of numbers used by rental offices. It is generally dedicated SIP ranges.

  8. Since the Orange hack I only answer calls from my contacts. everyone else is free to leave a voicemail and I may call them back. scammers never do..
