A De Watergroep van stopped in my street and 2 guys emerged. I was glancing over at what they were doing and shocked when I saw the guy in the orange high-vis vest take these out these 2 rods and starts this funny walk with both rods held out in front of him. (You can see him holding them behind his back in the picture I took).
Am I mistaken or is he using the "dowsing" or wichelroede methode to find water underground?
I thought it was already common knowledge that this was a longtime disproven method. Basically some hocuspocus.
I'm just so baffeled that there exist these wizards in brightly colored vests hired by De Watergroep. 🤯

Aren’t they using that to open the manhole covers.
Found it

Why not go there and ask?
Must be a joker, or at least let’s hope so…
I worked for a company for a while that worked in onderaanneming for Pidpa and De Watergroep.
One of the workers was doing the same thing so i asked him what the point was.
He told me the following:
We know people in their home are watching us. So just to prank them, i take 2 sticks and pretend i do the wichelroede method.
Its the same with one man working and 3 others just stand and watch. We want people to think only one man works and the rest is lazy.
When they are not looking anymore, everybody starts working again…
After he told me i noticed a man that was taking a look at us from out his window turned around. The guy put his sticks away and then took the plans out of his van.
We had to remove the main water pipe of a house we destroyed some months ago and the guy used the same sticks to find the pipe. There was no blueprint, and the pipe was not located at the normal place.
The pipe was in plastic at nearly 1m deep but his sticks reacted just on top of it, which helped to find the exact spot to dig to cut the water.
By discussing with them, it seems that it’s more effective than electronic detectors. Only a few workers at SWDE can use the sticks. (From what they explained).
But indeed I can’t believe it either…
