Technically true. From a medical standpoint, pedophilia refers to an attraction to prepubescent children (usually under the age of 11). From a legal perspective, you aren’t convicted of ‘pedophilia’ itself, but of an act – statutory rape or sexual contact with a minor. Likewise, the majority of people with pedophilic interest are not criminals and require psychological and psychiatric care.
But yeah, Twitter isn’t exactly the best place to post things like that, especially outside of professional discussions.
