C’est le 2e livre le plus traduit dans le monde après la Bible. Le Petit Prince d’Antoine de Saint-Exupéry sort ce mardi 22 juillet en patois vendéen. Une libraire des Sables d’Olonne est à l’initiative de cette nouvelle traduction.
L’idée du « P’tiot Prince » en patois vendéen est née à la librairie Looc, librairie de livres anciens aux Sables d’Olonne, chez Claudine Mannarini cogérante : « Étant moi-même collectionneuse de différentes traductions du Petit Prince, dans les langues du monde entier, je me suis dit Et pourquoi pas le Petit Prince en patois ? J’ai déjà des commandes qui viennent d’un peu partout. Ce qui plaît le plus dans cette histoire est qu’elle est lisible. On peut la lire à tous les âges de la vie ».

Claudine Mannarini a laissé travailler Jacques Ouvrard, vendéen et déjà auteur d’un lexique du patois local, avec Claire Pého du studio d’édition La Louve des Bois. Les droits d’auteur d’Antoine de Saint-Exupéry sont tombés dans le domaine public, mais pas les illustrations. Il a donc fallu obtenir l’accord de l’éditeur historique Gallimard. Claire Pého explique avec émotion : « Je trouvais ça amusant. Et puis je me suis dit que c’est vraiment une occasion de faire quelque chose avec mon père qui touche à ses racines (…) On ne va pas maintenir la langue, car ce n’est plus dans l’ère du temps, mais c’est important de maintenir ses souvenirs. Il fallait respecter l’auteur tout en adaptant à l’esprit du patois, une langue très chantante, pleine d’humour ».
Une conférence avec un spécialiste d’Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Léon Dubois, a lieu ce mardi 22 juillet à 16h à la mairie centrale des Sables d’Olonne, puis à 18h dédicace avec le traducteur à la librairie Looc toute proche. Enfin, à 20h, diffusion au cinéma Le Grand Palace du film d’animation Le Petit Prince de Mark Osbone (récompensé d’un césar en 2016).
