Forced to wait until the Qatar Grand Prix to finally make his racing debut on his new machine, Martín finished the weekend with a pneumothorax and eleven broken ribs, following a crash with Fabio Di Giannantonio. The Spaniard returned to competition in Brno, Czech Republic, and this weekend he competed in his fifth consecutive Grand Prix, at Misano.

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

A special event, as it was backed by a day of testing on Monday. This allowed the Madrid native to continue adapting to a particularly fast RS-GP, as proven by Marco Bezzecchi, poleman, winner of the Sprint and second in the Grand Prix behind the giant Marc Márquez. Martín was thus able to spend his day perfecting his position on the Aprilia, in order to extract more performance from it.

“I made a big step forward in terms of my position on the bike. I tried different handlebar positions in Austria, but during a race weekend, it’s not easy to really understand what works and what doesn’t. Here, as soon as I put myself in the same position as Marco, I felt a real improvement in my control of the bike, and its handling. It’s also less physical, which is important because you have to be able to maintain a good rhythm throughout the race.”

The reigning world champion also tested a longer rear swingarm, which is expected to help on longer tracks. However, the number 1 believes this new part will have to be evaluated on a circuit-by-circuit basis, having finished an excellent fourth at the twisty Balaton Park in Hungary with the shorter swingarm.

“In terms of ergonomics, I’m closer to what Marco does. We’ve modified the swingarm a little, and it seems to work better here. I don’t know if it will be the case at other circuits because, for example, at Balaton Park I had a shorter swingarm and it worked very well. We’ll see depending on the circuits. The important thing is that the base, the front of the bike, the position on the bike, are getting better and better, and that I’m more and more comfortable every time I get on the machine.”

Occasionally impressive, without having the consistency of Marco Bezzecchi who is now totally accustomed to the RS-GP, Jorge Martín believes that he is not yet at the maximum of his capacities, which will allow him in the future to attack more and more on a machine that he will also find in 2026, after a few weeks of an administrative fight, the pilot wishing to break his contract before finally continuing the adventure.

« In the race on Sunday, I was maybe at 60%, now I’m more like 75-80% of my limit. I don’t think I can push at 100% yet, but we’re making big steps forward, we have to keep going in this direction. »
