La justice britannique a tranché avec fermeté. Vendredi, quatre militants ont été condamnés à plusieurs années de prison pour leur participation à une opération menée en 2024 contre un site d’Elbit Systems UK à Bristol. Les dégâts dépassent le million de dollars. Le tribunal a surtout retenu un élément déterminant, le lien entre cette action et une logique qualifiée de terroriste.
Une qualification lourde de conséquences
Le juge Jeremy Johnson a considéré que les faits s’inscrivaient dans une démarche visant à peser sur les autorités et à intimider une partie de la population. Ce critère a alourdi les peines, malgré des circonstances atténuantes liées au passé judiciaire des accusés.
Samuel Corner, 23 ans, a reçu la sanction la plus sévère. Il purge une peine de sept ans et huit mois pour violences graves et dégradations. Le tribunal a retenu contre lui l’usage d’une violence jugée extrême après l’agression d’une policière, touchée à la colonne vertébrale. Son autisme n’a pas été jugé suffisant pour expliquer ses actes.
Une opération revendiquée
Les faits remontent à une intrusion menée par des membres de Palestine Action, groupe désormais interdit. Équipés de combinaisons rouges, les militants ont détruit du matériel, notamment des drones et des équipements informatiques, avant d’affronter les forces de l’ordre.
