After undergoing collarbone surgery in Spain after a crash at the Japanese Grand Prix, Jorge Martín was forced to withdraw from the Indonesian Grand Prix two weeks ago and the Australian Grand Prix this weekend at Phillip Island. However, as announced this Friday morning, the reigning world champion’s absence will be extended.
Still suffering, the Spaniard has decided to continue his rehabilitation and will miss the next round in Malaysia, despite the three additional weeks of rest he will have received before the event.
The target date will therefore be the Portuguese Grand Prix (November 9), which will take place two weeks later at the Portimao circuit. From this date, there will be two races remaining in 2025, along with the Valencia Grand Prix (November 16).
This latest absence will be Jorge Martin’s 13th Grand Prix outing this season. Between Thailand and Qatar, he missed three races to recover from injuries sustained during winter testing and a crash in pre-season training. Then, his crash at Losail forced him to withdraw from seven more rounds. He then made a comeback at the Czech Grand Prix, before competing in five races until his injury in Japan.
As a reminder, his best result this season remains the 4th place achieved at Balaton Park, during the Hungarian Grand Prix.
