\n\tElle en vendit 70, mais cela sera suffisant pour construire les d\u00e9buts de Marina and The Diamonds.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\u00ab\u00a0It\u2019s not an indie record, because I feel like\u00a0Ancient Dreams\u00a0was really in [the alternative music] world, but it\u2019s not like\u00a0Love and Fear. It\u2019s very much its own thing, but it feels very powerful, and very driven. I think that in the last year, just completing this book and recovering from a health issue, it\u2019s put me in a very different place creatively. It just feels like a very fun, bright record\u00a0\u00bb\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\u00ab\u00a0I feel like I got my sense of personal power back and this is inspiring this next record.\u00a0I think it’s something that people will relate to a lot but also it’s very connected to the pressure to stay in girlhood and what that looks like transitioning to womanhood as a pop artist.\u00a0\u00bb\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\u201cI had no intention to do a pop record. But I found my creative partner CJ Baran who is just so talented and it\u2019s just been such an enjoyable experience,\u201d she says. \u201cI think that\u2019s why the energy of this record feels different: It\u2019s part of my evolution as a human being. it\u2019s a really fun record. It has a lot of energy.\u201d\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\tMarina sees\u00a0Princess of Power, which she recorded with producer CJ Baran, as reflecting something true about her inner self. \u201cMaybe to others, I\u2019ve had a bold energy. Internally, I\u2019ve always struggled to feel like I\u2019m allowed to be my own person,\u201d she says. \u201cThe album is about teaching yourself \u2014 or re-teaching yourself \u2014\u00a0how to love.\u201d\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\u201cThat\u2019s really key: pleasure,\u201d Marina says. \u201cThroughout the centuries, it\u2019s been denied us that freedom to be silly and messy. Women have been under such a strict patriarchal power for so long, but this is just like, \u2018Fuck you.\u2019\u201d\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\u00a0\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\u201cI want women to not be afraid to age. I think it\u2019s not talked about in pop. Pop pretends it\u2019s not happening. We\u00a0are\u00a0getting older. But I don\u2019t want to feel ashamed about it or feel like I have to cling on to youth.\u201d\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
