Cent ans apr\u00e8s la formulation de la m\u00e9canique quantique, elle a r\u00e9compens\u00e9 trois laur\u00e9ats qui ont pouss\u00e9 tr\u00e8s loin les limites de cette th\u00e9orie, qui d\u00e9crit les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s microscopiques de la mati\u00e8re. Le Britannique John Clarke (universit\u00e9 Berkeley), 83\u00a0ans, le Fran\u00e7ais Michel Devoret (universit\u00e9s Yale et de Californie \u00e0 Santa Barbara), 72\u00a0ans, et l\u2019Am\u00e9ricain John Martinis (universit\u00e9 de Californie \u00e0 Santa Barbara), 67\u00a0ans, ont, au milieu des ann\u00e9es 1980, r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 des aspects \u00e9tonnants de la m\u00e9canique quantique. Ils ont ainsi ouvert la voie \u00e0 de vastes champs d\u2019applications, comme l\u2019hypoth\u00e9tique ordinateur quantique, dont les modes de fonctionnement originaux promettent de r\u00e9soudre des calculs complexes plus efficacement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph  \">Michel Devoret, tout en gardant une casquette acad\u00e9mique, aide d\u2019ailleurs Google dans ce but en tant que \u00ab\u00a0scientifique en chef sur le hardware quantique\u00a0\u00bb depuis quatre ans, tout comme l\u2019avait fait avant lui John Martinis, entre 2014 et 2020, avant de fonder sa startup, Qolab, en\u00a02022. Il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 aussi cosignataire d\u2019un article majeur, fin 2019, publi\u00e9 dans la revue Nature avec l\u2019\u00e9quipe de Google, qui pr\u00e9sentait une premi\u00e8re puce quantique performante.<\/p>\n<p class=\"reading-mode-only \"><strong>Il vous reste 81.22% de cet article \u00e0 lire.
