SYLVAIN THOMAS \/AFP                 <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph  \">Dans de petites villes comme dans de grandes agglom\u00e9rations, pour tous ou pour de larges pans de la population, l\u2019id\u00e9e de rendre gratuits les transports en commun urbains est largement propos\u00e9e, d\u00e9battue et combattue par les candidats aux \u00e9lections municipales. Et peu importe que la question des transports ne soit que rarement une comp\u00e9tence communale, tant que la proposition permet de se d\u00e9marquer de ces adversaires.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph  \">A la veille <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/economie\/article\/2023\/10\/19\/la-gratuite-des-bus-et-trams-a-montpellier-a-partir-de-decembre-un-choix-qui-divise-le-monde-du-transport-public_6195331_3234.html\" rel=\"noopener\">du second anniversaire de la gratuit\u00e9 dans son r\u00e9seau pour l\u2019ensemble de ses administr\u00e9s<\/a>, Montpellier-M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e M\u00e9tropole a mis en place un Observatoire des mobilit\u00e9s pour mesurer les changements de comportement. Sur la p\u00e9riode 2019-2024, alors que la gratuit\u00e9 se mettait progressivement en place, la part modale de la voiture a chut\u00e9 de 58\u00a0% \u00e0 49\u00a0% \u00e0 Montpellier et de 70\u00a0% \u00e0 51\u00a0% sur l\u2019ensemble des 31\u00a0communes de la m\u00e9tropole. Parall\u00e8lement, l\u2019utilisation des transports en commun urbains a cr\u00fb de 17\u00a0% \u00e0 19\u00a0% dans la ville et de 10\u00a0% \u00e0 15\u00a0% dans la m\u00e9tropole. Enfin, la part du v\u00e9lo a augment\u00e9 de 5\u00a0% \u00e0 8\u00a0% \u00e0 Montpellier et de 4\u00a0% \u00e0 6\u00a0% dans l\u2019agglom\u00e9ration. \u00ab\u00a0Il est tr\u00e8s difficile d\u2019isoler pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment les causes de la baisse de l\u2019usage de la voiture, mais assur\u00e9ment, la gratuit\u00e9 des transports y a contribu\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb, se r\u00e9jouit Micha\u00ebl Delafosse, maire (Parti socialiste) de Montpellier et pr\u00e9sident de la m\u00e9tropole.<\/p>\n<p class=\"reading-mode-only \"><strong>Il vous reste 69.49% de cet article \u00e0 lire.
