JAKARTA – Law enforcement officers are hunting for a masked robber who robbed a luxury watch from a store near the Elysee Palace, Paris, France.

The theft in the heart of the French capital was carried out by two robbers who attacked 11 luxury watches.

The two perpetrators wore high-quality masks that, according to the injured employee, who is the father of the store manager, resembled human faces. One of the perpetrators threatened an employee with a firearm.

The thieves reportedly used the pretext of wanting to sell Rolex watches before forcing the employee to put 11 watches into their bags.

“Suddenly they pulled out a gun and said to my father, ‘put everything in the bag’,” said Gary Azoulay, manager of the Our Watches outlet, after the robbery on Monday, launching The National (5/5).

“They fired shots, just to show my father that it was a real gun,” he continued.

Azoulay said he was out on an errand and his father was alone in the store when the incident occurred during “a maximum of two minutes”. The store is located on Rue de Miromesnil in the eighth arrondissement of Paris.

“The Elysee Palace is there, but they still came to rob it even though they knew the police were at the end of the road,” Azoulay said.

Separately, a police source told daily newspaper Le Parisien that one of the two suspected robbers was arrested in the northern Paris suburb of Asnieres-sur-Seine after an accident involving the scooter he was riding and a truck.

A shell casing was found near the scene, but as of Tuesday afternoon another suspect was still at large.

Paris prosecutors have launched an investigation and said the masked robbers entered the store by pretending to be customers before showing guns and shooting into the wall.

The employee was roughly pulled to the store’s entrance area before the robbers fled with an accomplice waiting on a scooter.
