Whitehouse’s Grace McDonald earns win, drives in 4 runs in Paris Junior College doubleheader

KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) – Former Whitehouse Ladycat Grace McDonald picked up her 16th win of the season and her first save as Paris Junior College swept its doubleheader against Kilgore College on Tuesday.

Paris won the first game 14-6 and the second game 9-8.

In the first game, McDonald went 3-for-5 with two RBI. In the first inning, McDonald singled up the middle, scoring Brandie Phillips. In the fourth inning, McDonald hit a single up the middle, scoring Jayce Ornelas. Bullard’s Hadi Fults started in the circle for Paris, pitching 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on five hits with one walk and one strikeout. At the plate, she went 0-for-1. For Kilgore, Beckville’s Lexi Barr went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Hallsville’s Ava Martin went 1-for-1. Mount Pleasant’s Jordan Andrade went 1-for-3 with two RBI. She pitched 2/3 of an inning, walking two. Canton’s Katrina Morphis went 1-for-1. Marshall’s Lauren Minatrea went 0-for-2, while Marshall’s Briana Theus went 0-for-3 with a walk.

In the second game, McDonald went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run. She pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits while striking out five to pick up the win and the save. In the fourth inning, McDonald hit a two-run home run to give the Dragons a 4-2 lead. Fults went 1-for-3 with an RBI. For Kilgore, Barr went 1-for-2 with a run. Martin went 1-for-4 with a run. Andrade went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Hughes Springs’ Alyssa Baxter went 2-for-3 with a run. Tatum’s Camryn Milam went 0-for-2. Morphis went 0-for-4 with an RBI. Jacksonville’s Jasmine Gallegos took the loss, pitching 3 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run on seven hits, striking out one. Minatrea went 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Paris ended the regular season at 46-10 overall and 20-4 in Region 14, while Kilgore finished the regular season at 15-41 overall and 7-17 in Region 14.
