PSG exploded out of the gate and continued to push the pace. Bayern is simply not efficient or comfortable at this rate and Luis Enrique’s side is exploiting this weakness. In a game full of superstars, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been on a different level tonight. He breezed past Dayot Upamecano and laid out a perfect pass for Ousmane Dembélé to slam into the back of the net. After the first 20 minutes, Bayern settled into the game and gained back some momentum.Last week, VAR intervened to award PSG a very debatable handball penalty decision. Tonight, Bayern got the short end of the stick again when VAR refused to override an insane no-call in the box.Bayern needs to buckle down on defense and convert their limited chances on offense. This game is very much within reach if Bayern plays its own style and wears down PSG.

HT: Bayern down 0-1 (4-6) at the break.

45’+3: Yellow card. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is booked for time wasting.

45’: Two minutes of stoppage time added in the first half.

33’: Yellow card. Jonathan Tah is booked for a foul on Désiré Doué.

31’: João Neves miraculously avoids a handball decision in the box. VAR does not even run a check. Truly abysmal work from the referee crew.

8’: Yellow card. Nuno Mendes is booked for clipping Michael Olise along the touchline.

3’: Goal, PSG. Bayern down 0-1 (4-6). Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scorches Dayot Upamecano and Ousmane Dembélé rips a one-timer right past Manuel Neuer.

1’: LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Vincent Kompany is going with his most reliable and tested squad in the second leg. Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer will be the outside backs, despite Alphonso Davies being a better fit for PSG’s counterattacking speed. With the return of Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof, Kompany will basically have all of his weapons available, except Serge Gnabry.

PSG will also be using a different outside back as Warren Zaïre-Emery drops to right back after Achraf Hakimi tore his hamstring against Bayern last week.

Just one week ago, Bayern Munich and PSG battled to a wild 5-4 result in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League. Both teams held the lead then gave up multiple goals. The offensive barrage drew applause compared to the slugfest that was featured in the other semifinal between Arsenal and Atlético Madrid that ended in a 1-1 draw.

There has been no “away goal” rule in the Champions League since 22. This means that Bayern will need to win by multiple goals in the second leg to advance, or win by one goal and defeat PSG in a shootout. If the result ends in a draw or loss for Bayern, PSG will advance to the Champions League final and Bayern will be eliminated.

Bayern wins 4-2 and advances on 8-7 aggregate. Buckle up for another wild ride! The cardiac kids will deliver an encore performance to last week’s high-flying first leg. PSG’s high press will be completely negated by Bayern’s dominant possession in the early action. Jamal Musiala will score a brace in the first half and Harry Kane will add a penalty kick on an ironic PSG handball right before halftime. Ousmane Dembélé will score in the first half and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will drag one back early in the second half. In the dying moments of the game, Michael Olise will strike again and send Bayern to the final in Budapest.
