SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A global fashion icon and Netflix star residing in Salt Lake City announced the sale of his multi-million dollar home as he and his family prepare to move out of state.
Tan France, a fashion designer known as one of the stars in Netflix’s award-winning “Queer Eye,” has shared that his beloved Salt Lake City home is officially up for sale. Sotheby’s listed the 3.36-acre home for $7.5 million.

Living in Utah
An England native from a Pakistani family, France has intermittently lived in Utah for over a decade. It’s where he met his husband, Rob, who grew up in Wyoming as part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While faith isn’t something often discussed in their relationship, France said their different upbringings created a similar value system.
Though the Church and the LGBTQ community has sometimes been at odds, as of 2019, France said he has many friends who belong to the faith and hasn’t faced discrimination throughout his time in Utah.

“If I lived in New York or L.A., I’m sure my life would have changed massively. That’s why I choose to live in Salt Lake,” he said. “I come home and escape from the extra life I have no desire to live.”
According to Architectural Digest, France said about Salt Lake City, “I chose to move here because I thought it was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen in my life. The people are the kindest I’ve ever experienced.”
Despite his love for the Beehive State and believing they had built their “forever home,” France recently shared on a social media post his plans to move to the East Coast.
The Empire State move
France, along with his husband and their children, are making plans to move to New York.
“We live like senior citizens who are retired,” he joked. He explained for over a decade he would decline offers to a variety of social events on the East Coast because he felt like he already applies himself so much to his work.
For France, being away from from friends and social activities felt like living in a “bubble.” While he describes the home and lifestyle in Utah as something he has truly loved, France said of his current situation, “We’re not really living. We’re just kind of getting through life.”
Salt Lake City home details
The exclusive home is nestled within the prestigious, gated North Cove community. The landscaped land has 24/7 security.
The luxuries include a swimming pool with a patio along with an additional patio overlooking the valley. A fully enclosed glass atrium is another amenity the home has to offer for an outdoor dining venue.
The heated driveway is essential for Utah’s winter months and is attached to a two-car garage.

The interior features hand-painted mural wallpaper and an elegant staircase at the entrance. The custom kitchen and five bedrooms, one with a 1,000-square-foot closet space, offer a uniqueness that shows how thoughtfully curated the home was.
It took three years to create the 6,903-square-foot, Tudor-style home. It was designed by France and his illustrator and painter husband, Rob, along with custom home designers, Tom and Cara Fox.
“It is wild that we would give up that house,” France said. “I love that house so much and it’s been my favourite home, but we’re going to do something that hopefully is really exciting.”
