2 former Paris school principals charged with embezzlement
Two former Paris District 95 principals are facing embezzlement charges.
A federal indictment charges former Carolyn Wenz Elementary School Principal Megan Carroll and former Mayo Middle School Principal Kyle Shay.
The document says they rounded their mileage to amounts greater than what were actually driven when delivering school lunches.
The money they were paid came from a federal grant program used during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Former Superintendent Jeremy Larson is also named in the indictment as helping the principals get the extra money.
The Prairie Press reports that both Carroll and Shay have pleaded not guilty.
A joint trial is scheduled for June.
