Stage 20 of the 2026 Tour de France brings one final brutal day in the mountains on Saturday, with the peloton tackling a 170.9-kilometer route from Le Bourg d’Oisans to another summit finish on Alpe d’Huez.

The penultimate stage of the Tour is arguably the hardest of the entire race, packing approximately 5,450 meters of climbing into a massive Alpine route. Riders face the Col de la Croix de Fer and Col du Galibier before approaching Alpe d’Huez from the Col de Sarenne side, creating a much different challenge than Friday’s more traditional ascent. With three enormous climbs and almost nowhere to recover, Stage 20 provides one last opportunity for the Tour’s best climbers to attack before Sunday’s finale in Paris.

Tadej Pogačar enters the stage firmly in control of the yellow jersey after delivering another dominant performance on Stage 19. Pogačar attacked on the way up Alpe d’Huez and won the stage ahead of Lenny Martinez and Richard Carapaz, while Remco Evenepoel finished sixth and Isaac del Toro seventh. Now the peloton has to climb Alpe d’Huez for the second consecutive day, with Pogačar looking to finish off his Tour in style while Evenepoel, Del Toro and the other GC contenders face their final major chance to shake up the standings before the race heads to the Champs-Élysées on Sunday.
