Three women – one reportedly pregnant – were attacked on the streets of Paris on Monday by a man armed with two kitchen knives.
The incident took place at about 9.30am near Porte de Clichy in Paris.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told reporters the man attacked the three women, who were aged 19, 24 and 36, severely wounding two of them.
According to a witness speaking to Le Figaro, one of the victims was pregnant.
Two of the victims who were taken to hospital remain in critical condition. Local media reports one woman was hit in the lower back and the other in the abdomen.

Le Figaro reported the man declared: “It is Allah who ordered me” while he was being arrested.
Video footage verified by Reuters and aired on social platform X showed a man with long black hair, wearing a cream tracksuit and wielding one big knife in each hand stabbing a young woman.
The video then showed him immobilized on the floor and surrounded by a group of people who had stopped him.
The motive of the attack remains unknown, Nunez said, adding police could not verify the identity of the attacker, whose declarations were “incoherent” when he was being arrested.

The minister said the man was detained by an off-duty police officer. “I pay tribute to him, it was a courageous act,” Nunez added.
