Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling more than 1.5 million 2019 to 2026 Ram 1500 (DT) pickups worldwide because some trucks may have an improperly attached second-row seat belt buckle anchor.Â
Known internally as recall campaign 67D, the voluntary safety action covers an estimated 1,271,294 trucks in the United States, 156,138 in Canada, 15,088 in Mexico, and another 74,084 in markets outside North America.
While the recall population is large, it does not mean every truck included has the defect. Dealers must inspect the affected hardware to determine which vehicles actually require repairs.

What Went Wrong?
The concern involves the seat belt buckle anchor for the second-row center seating position, the second-row driver-side position, or both. On some trucks, the anchor may not have been properly attached to the vehicle’s body structure during assembly. FCA US says some customers have reported finding a buckle that was not attached to the floor.
In plain English, the buckle may not be secured to the truck as intended. During certain types of crashes, that could prevent the second-row seat belt from performing properly and increase the chance of injury to a passenger.
FCA US says it is aware of one injury potentially connected to the issue. The condition does not involve the front-row seat belts or the second-row passenger-side seating position.

What Owners Should Do
FCA US will begin notifying affected owners by mail this month. Owners will be instructed to contact an authorized Ram dealer and schedule an inspection.
Dealer technicians will check the second-row center and driver-side buckle anchors. When an anchor is not properly secured, the dealer will correctly attach it to the truck’s body structure. The inspection and any required repair will be completed free of charge.
Ram says there is no stop-drive order connected to the recall. However, owners are advised not to carry passengers in the affected second-row center or driver-side positions until the truck has been inspected and repaired, if necessary.

The Bottom Line
This campaign covers eight model years of the fifth-generation Ram 1500. Since model year alone does not confirm whether a particular truck is included, owners should watch for their notification letter and check the vehicle identification number rather than assume their pickup is unaffected.
