On Friday in Paris, there will be a video conference with the participation of France and the United Kingdom with partner countries that are ready to join a multilateral defensive mission to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron on X. He assured that the conference would bring together non-belligerent countries that can contribute to a purely defensive mission.

“France and the United Kingdom will hold this Friday’s conference in Paris, which will bring together in a video-conference format non-belligerent countries ready to contribute alongside us to a multilateral and purely defensive mission aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait, as soon as safety conditions permit.”

According to the president, the day before he also discussed developments with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Macron urged resuming talks, previously suspended in Islamabad, to avoid misunderstandings and not to allow further escalation. He stressed that the ceasefire must be observed by all sides to lay the foundations for stabilizing the region.

According to reports, about 40 country could join the multinational mission, which differs from American efforts and is conceived as a separate defensive initiative.
