Owners of select Ram pickup trucks may want to check whether their vehicle is affected.More than 1.2 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks have been recalled after FCA US said some vehicles may have second-row seat belt buckle anchors that were not properly attached to the vehicle body, increasing the risk of injury in certain crashes.
According to the automaker, certain 2019-2026 Ram 1500 pickups may have been built with a second-row center or driver-side seat belt buckle anchor that was not properly attached to the vehicle body structure.
In some crashes, the issue could keep the affected second-row seat belts from working as intended, increasing the risk of injury for passengers.
According to FCA US, some customers have reported that a seat belt buckle was not attached to the floor.
The company is also aware of one injury that may be related to the issue.
The recall applies to certain 2019-2026 Ram 1500 pickup trucks.
FCA US estimates 1,271,294 vehicles are affected in the United States. The recall also includes an estimated 156,138 vehicles in Canada, 15,088 in Mexico and 74,084 in some markets outside North America.
The automaker said not every vehicle included in the recall is affected by the defect. Instead, all potentially affected vehicles are being recalled so dealers can inspect them and determine whether repairs are needed.
FCA US said affected owners will begin getting notification letters by first-class mail in August.
Owners should contact their dealer to schedule an inspection. Dealers will inspect the second-row center and second-row driver-side seat belt buckle anchors and, if needed, properly attach them to the vehicle for free.
The automaker said customers can keep driving their vehicles, but they should avoid using the affected second-row center and driver-side seating positions until the inspection and any necessary repairs have been completed. There is no stop-drive order associated with the recall.
