Australia’s biggest beauty retailers are increasingly taking brand discovery beyond the store shelf, with Chemist Warehouse and Sephora both staging major consumer-facing events that bring shoppers closer to brands through sampling, education, entertainment and exclusive experiences.
First up is Chemist Warehouse, which will open the doors to its biggest brand event of the year this weekend, before Sephora brings House of Sephora back to Sydney later this month.
Together, the events point to the growing role of experiential retail in beauty, transforming product discovery into an opportunity to build deeper relationships between retailers, brands and their customers.
CW Brand Lab lands this weekend
Chemist Warehouse will stage its 2026 Brand Showcase on Friday, 14 August and Saturday, 15 August at The Timber Yard in Port Melbourne, with this year’s event taking on a new identity: CW Brand Lab. Returning for its fourth year, the event will welcome consumers alongside media and content creators to explore more than 70 brands across beauty, health, lifestyle and parenting.
Chemist Warehouse describes the new Brand Lab concept as a high-energy world of curated production lines, interactive sampling stations and innovation, designed to encourage guests to discover and experience products firsthand. Attendees can expect brand activations, sampling, services, food and beverage, free gifts and a gift bag valued at more than $300.
Consumer demand has also been built through Chemist Warehouse’s own community channels. An initial allocation of 500 tickets was released to members of the CW Insiders Facebook Group, followed by a wider public ticket release. Six sessions will run across the two-day event, with two on Friday and four on Saturday.
This year, Chemist Warehouse has named Backpacks 4 VIC Kids as its CW Brand Lab charity partner, with proceeds from ticket sales supporting the Victorian organisation. The charity provides essential material-aid packs to children and young people experiencing displacement, including those entering foster care, emergency accommodation or other crisis situations.
Chemist Warehouse said it chose to “look a little closer to home” for its 2026 charity partnership, with PR & Events Manager Alex Bateman helping highlight the organisation and the impact of its work.
More than sampling
For the more than 70 participating brands, CW Brand Lab provides an opportunity to move beyond traditional merchandising and put products directly into the hands of consumers. The combination of sampling, education and interactive activations also creates opportunities for social content and word-of-mouth exposure, extending the impact of the physical event beyond those attending. It’s a strategy increasingly visible across the beauty retail landscape.
House of Sephora returns to Sydney
Less than two weeks later, Sephora Australia will bring its House of Sephora Consumer Session back to Sydney on Thursday, 27 August. More than 600 guests will attend across three sessions, with over 40 global beauty brands coming together for Sephora Australia’s biggest consumer beauty event.
Guests will be able to explore immersive brand experiences, product education, shade matching and interactive games, as well as meet experts behind participating brands. Attendees will also be among the first to experience two new Only at Sephora brand launches, alongside exclusive samples, limited-edition merchandise and other beauty surprises. Sessions will run from 12pm–2pm, 3pm–5pm and 6pm–8pm.
Loyalty becomes part of the experience
Sephora is also using the event to extend its Beauty Pass loyalty program beyond conventional points and rewards. Tickets can be redeemed through the Sephora Rewards Boutique for 250 Beauty Pass Points, effectively turning loyalty currency into access to an exclusive physical experience.
Gold Members receive early access from 11 August and a deluxe goodie bag, before General Admission opens to all Beauty Pass Members on 13 August. Every attendee will also leave with a curated goodie bag filled with samples and merchandise.
The approach demonstrates how beauty retailers can use experiences not only to drive product discovery, but also to strengthen the value of their loyalty ecosystems and reward their most engaged customers.
Tarte takes the experience in-store
Sephora’s experiential strategy is also extending into individual brand activations, with Tarte transforming Sephora Pitt Street Mall into a beach-inspired pop-up to celebrate the launch of its new CC Color-Correcting Tinted Serum.
The Tarte CC Beach Club invites consumers to move beyond simply discovering the new product on shelf, with an immersive experience built around trial, personalisation and social engagement.
Guests can receive a personalised shade match for the new tinted serum, visit the CC Cabana for a complimentary printed photo, explore Tarte’s viral bestsellers and personalise exclusive gifts. The activation also includes complimentary bottled Tarte juice, exclusive merchandise and a gift bag containing a full-size Tarte product, deluxe samples and branded merchandise.
