Olivia Wilde channeled the energy of Fendi‘s “new bourgeoisie” during the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland on Saturday.
“The Invite” actress and filmmaker sported a design from the Italian luxury fashion house’s cruise 2027 collection, which marked chief creative officer Maria Grazia Chiuri’s inaugural pre-collection for the Roman label.

Classic black and white colorblocking was given a modern update with a sleeveless dress designed with a plunging neckline and black leather bodice. An Empire waistline transitioned into an ethereal, flowing skirt with plenty of movement.
Wilde accesorized her minimalist modern Fendi design with delicate jewelry pieces courtesy of De La Paix. The actress’ hair was styled in long, cascading summery waves by Daya Ruci, with makeup by Emma White Turle. Stylist Karla Welch, who also works with Tracee Ellis Ross, curated Wilde’s latest red carpet look.

Fendi’s cruise 2027 collection made its debut during Milan Resort Week in May. “The reference of the Fendi women and men are people who work, who have a real life, who move. It’s a bourgeoise,” Chiuri said, after kicking off her tenure with the fashion house in October 2025.
Chiuri’s pre-collection was a study in parchment. “Historically linked to luggage-making, for cruise 2027 it was reprised not only in an iteration of the Baguette bag profiled with studded black leather but also served as inspiration for clothing. Its neutral hue was evoked in wardrobe staples spanning from three-piece suits to crisp trenchcoats with black detailing,” Sandra Salibian wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.

A restrained color palette also kept “the focus on textures and silhouettes,” Salibian wrote. The cruise 2027 collection included “touches of red, avio blue, metallics and animal patterns” among other standout elements.
“The color scheme contributed to enhance the noir vibe of the moody short movie the brand developed to present the collection. Titled ‘Oltre lo Specchio,’ or ‘Beyond the Mirror’ in English, the cinematic project is a nod to Jacques de Bascher’s ‘Histoire d’Eau,’ a 1977 film commissioned by Karl Lagerfeld to launch the first ready-to-wear collection designed for Fendi.
