Paris empties out in August. Locals take their holidays and terraces are packed in. Those who stick around after surviving the intense heat of July often admire a calmer version of Paris, one that is heavily tied to its timelessness. Though, in spite of its constant churn of people, you don’t have to wait until August comes around to experience a different side of the city. Filled with hidden bars and bistros, sometimes, an escape is tucked just off a busy boulevard, or in the case of the Four Seasons Hotel George V, the Champs-Élysées.

There is a certain blend of history and contemporary elegance that only a Parisian can master. The decor in each room mirrors this attunement, with a mostly neutral color palette that makes the light bathing the walls even softer. Brocades are mixed in with solid velvet fabrics, creating a dynamic, yet homelike environment. Not to mention, when the day ends, the Carrara marble bathrooms are the perfect place to decompress and soak in the tub.
Though an editor’s day in Paris is often filled with meetings and showrooms, if there is free a moment, a trip to the Four Season’s spa is always a must. A yoga class followed by a massage clears the mind and invigorates you for the day ahead.
