Paris Jackson is detailing the moment her relationship with her mother, Debbie Rowe, began to take off during her teenage years.
The 28-year-old daughter of the late pop star Michael Jackson provided an update on her relationship with her mom, whom she didn’t grow up with, during the Wednesday, August 12 episode of Call Her Daddy.
Paris revealed she questioned her famous father about her mother when she was a pre-teen.
“I remember kind of asking about it when I was probably 10 or 11. The answers I got were sufficient to me. Like, ‘Oh, what’s her name?’ And I got told her name, and I’m like, ‘Alright cool,'” Paris recalled.
It wasn’t until she was 15 that she “connected” with Debbie, she said. This reunion took place four years after the King of Pop suffered cardiac arrest and died in his Los Angeles, California, home.
“We connected when I was about 15 and then really started getting closer toward the end of my teen years,” Paris said.
Paris recalled reuniting with Debbie at her grandmother Katherine Jackson‘s home, where she lived following Michael’s death.
“I remember coming downstairs and she was in the living room with my grandma. I came in and was just like, ‘Hey mom.’ She was like, ‘Hi.’ I sat down, we talked for a second, and then we went out for the day.”
“She’s a [Sagittarius], she’s got the fire. I’m an Aries, I got the fire. We’re very similar,” Paris, who enjoys learning about people’s astrological signs, added.
Paris also discussed the positives of not setting expectations when it comes to her relationships with other people.
“I think that’s what’s really cool about my process. Just in general all things is learning how expectations kind of [expletive] us up. And if I walk into a relationship with expectations, probably going to end up being maybe disappointed or frustrated or irritated or a resentment will be born,” she said. “And when I walk into something and I don’t have expectations, it creates this really cool space for something organic to just blossom.”
Paris’ comments about her mom come months after she posted a photo with Rowe on Mother’s Day, per E News.
Rowe and Michael Jackson were married from 1996 to 2000. In addition to Paris, Rowe is also mother to Michael Joseph “Prince” Jackson Jr., who was born in 1997, one year before Paris was born.
