The makeup and fashion visionaries found inspiration in the Maison’s iconic monogram
Louis Vuitton just released a limited-edition makeup collection fit for the transformative period between late summer and early fall.
Called Monogram Dune and Monogram Infrarouge, the dual ranges encompass light, warm tones (in the former) and dark, edgy hues (in the latter). It comes courtesy of the Maison’s esteemed artistic director, Nicolas Ghesquière, and its creative director of cosmetics, makeup legend Dame Pat McGrath DBE.
The duo’s teaming up within Louis Vuitton was imminent. In addition to their roles at the French fashion house, Ghesquière and McGrath have been building looks together backstage for years.
“There is a shorthand between us: a trust and a creative cohesion,” McGrath said. “What we have created with this collection for La Beauté is the natural next step of that conversation. The products did not begin with a brief — they began with a feeling, the same feeling we always create together backstage before a show. That is what makes it so extraordinary. It is not a collaboration in the traditional sense. It is an evolution of our partnership.”

Added Ghesquière, “Beauty has always been complementary to how I conceive a silhouette – it completes the character, the attitude, the emotion of a look. With La Beauté Louis Vuitton, we are extending that vision beyond the runway. It’s a way of allowing the Louis Vuitton woman to carry that expression into her everyday life.”
And with the opposing colorway options, that expression can be playful and feminine one day, while moody the next. Monogram Dune comes inspired by the desert landscape’s ever-shifting nature, illuminating a brand-monogrammed eyeshadow compact with sandy tones. Meanwhile, the Monogram Infrarouge stuns with cooler neutrals and a sultry burgundy in a bold black and red compact. Satin lipsticks and topper lip balms complete the collection.
