The formula works by creating an invisible layer over the skin that compresses, firms, and smooths out eye bags in ‘minutes’. Just dab a small pea-sized amount from the inner corner of the eye outwards using a clean, dry finger. Allow 15 minutes to dry so it can set properly. At night, wash it off with a waterproof eye makeup remover.
If this particular concoction isn’t fitting the bill, Peter Thomas Roth Instant Firmx Temporary Eye Tightener Easy Wear Formula is a great alternative. Priced at £39 from LookFantastic, this product is marketed as an eye-firming treatment designed to diminish visible signs of ageing.
Its distinctive feature is a sheer, tinted formula that reportedly works well across all skin tones. Holland and Barrett also stocks the MediPeel Peptide 9 Hyaluronic Volumy Eye Cream for £19.99. This cream combines nine different peptides with hyaluronic acid to moisturise the delicate under-eye region, aiming to ‘restore youthful volume’.
Although the L’Oreal Paris Eye Bag Eraser has earned glowing comments from more than 1,000 Amazon reviewers, one of which raved: “Wow. This is amazing. It’s not cheap as it’s a small tube, but it is well worth it. I saw a difference in a few minutes. I could feel it working too.
“Just a tiny amount under my eye. Pat it in gently and wait for the results. Skin feels tighter, and I feel years younger. This dried in under a minute. I will definitely buy again, and I will be trying the other L’Orèal Revitalift products. Fine lines have shrunk.”

Another user hailed: “I was surprised that this actually made a noticeable difference. I often have under-eye bags as I don’t sleep very well, and this gives my eye area a much smoother, more refreshed look within about 15 minutes.
“The trick is definitely to follow the instructions, apply a very thin layer and let it dry completely without touching it. Once I started doing that, the results were much better.
“It creates a subtle tightening effect that makes my under eye bags look less obvious and the effect lasts for most of the day. I also like that the tube is small but you only need the tiniest amount so it should last quite a while. Very useful for when I want to look a bit more awake.”

Not all reviews were entirely positive, however, with some customers deducting stars for various reasons. One remarked: “Used as directed, feels good on skin and dries well, non sticky, tube easy to apply on finger tip – but it’s not worth all the hype.”
Another stated: “The cream was easily absorbed, l did not find the effectiveness that great.” That said, for the most part shoppers found the L’Oreal eye product ‘surprisingly effective’ and if it’s good enough for Cat, it’s good enough for us.
