Last night, celebrities made an unusually early pilgrimage to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens to watch a special Roger Federer exhibition match. Actress and model Kaia Gerber, star of The Shards, was among those who watched Federer play Andy Roddick. For the evening, she chose a LBD from Yana Matkivski: the brand’s “Donna” dress, which they note is inspired by vintage bathing suits. She kept her jewelry minimal, accessorizing with a Panthère de Cartier watch and Khaite x Oliver Peoples sunglasses and finished her outfit with Le Silla mule sandals.

Notably, she carried a Fendi Baguette (the “26424” re-edition style) from the Fall/Winter 2026 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri. As T&C’s Roxanne Adamiyatt wrote of the bag, “True to the French staple that gave it its name, the Baguette’s premise was simple: a small purse that could be tucked perfectly under the arm. Fendi made it unmistakably Italian, infusing the style with a dash of sprezzatura and constantly evolving it with a kaleidoscope of colors, textures, and materials, from leather to embossed jacquard, denim to embroidery.” The version Geber chose featured a tiger skin print.

As the U.S. Open gets underway (the main draw begins this Sunday, August 30), the question of what to wear will be top of mind for all attendees, not just the celebrities. But as Gerber demonstrated last night, all you really need for a chic U.S. Open night session outfit is a LBD, a pair of sunglasses, and a small statement bag.
