If you’ve been following the Stellantis brands in North America lately, you’ve probably noticed one thing: color is making a comeback. It feels like we have been talking about paint colors nonstop in recent weeks.
So it’s no surprise when the Jeep® brand tells its dealers it’s expanding the color choices on its 2027 Grand Cherokee (WL). However, the number of new colors may be the real shocker.
Eight new shades will join the lineup.

The first two colors to join the lineup are High Gloss Black and Sting-Gray.Â
High Gloss Black gives Jeep another dark color for buyers who want a simple, clean look. That should work great with the popular dark appearance packages on the Grand Cherokee.Â
Sting-Gray is a color most of you are probably familiar with. It’s a color that has been on the Grand Cherokee before and is making its return. It’s also a popular color on the darker appearance packages.
The bigger changes come later in the model year.
Jeep is adding Ghost, Red Hot, Olive Green, Midnight Sky, Ember, and Red Rock as late-availability options.Â
That gives the Grand Cherokee a much better mix of colors than we have seen in recent years.

Four Current Colors Continue For 2027
Jeep is not starting over with the entire color lineup.
Bright White, Steel Blue, Copper Shino, and Fathom Blue will continue to be available for the 2027 model year.
Once all eight new colors become available, that will give the Grand Cherokee 12 exterior colors to choose from.
That is a pretty big selection, especially at a time when a lot of automakers have spent years cutting back on paint choices and sticking with safer colors that are easier for dealers to stock.

Stellantis Keeps Moving Away From Boring Colors
This is becoming a noticeable trend across Stellantis’ brands.
It makes sense.
Color is one of the easiest ways for an automaker to give customers more choice without completely changing a vehicle.Â
The Grand Cherokee is also a good vehicle for a larger color palette because it attracts such a wide range of buyers.
Some people buy one because they need a comfortable family SUV. Others want something more upscale, while some buyers still want that traditional Jeep look and capability.
More paint choices give each buyer a better chance of finding something that suits them.

A Welcome Change For The WL
Nobody buys a Grand Cherokee just because of the paint color, but color can absolutely be the deciding factor when two otherwise similar vehicles are sitting next to each other.
For 2027, Jeep is giving buyers a lot more to choose from.
After years of seeing so many neutral-colored vehicles on the road, it is nice to see Jeep bringing a little more variety back to the Grand Cherokee.
