The LVMH Prize was created in 2013 to celebrate and support creative talent from around the world. The competition is open to designers aged between 18 and 40 who have created at least two ready-to-wear collections.

According to the official LVMH Prize website, the winner of the LVMH Prize receives a €400,000 endowment (Rs 4.39 crore INR), along with one year of mentorship from a team of LVMH experts. Meanwhile, the Karl Lagerfeld Prize was created in 2022 in honour of the late designer and former LVMH Prize Jury member Karl Lagerfeld.
