The strategic partnership aims to broaden access to French public service content and combat disinformation
France Télévisions has entered into a strategic partnership with YouTube, aiming to both widen access to its public service content and combat disinformation.
Aligning with the broadcaster’s digital first strategy, the alliance aims to ensure its news programming can be reached on all screens in all locations. Under the agreement, thousands of hours of content will be made available online every year, shortly after being broadcast. Allowing France Télévisions to better leverage its presence on the platform, the partnership enable France TV Publicité to directly market its inventory, optimising monetisation opportunities.

According to France Télévisions, more than half of viewers already consume news content via YouTube. The collaboration aims to boost awareness, consumption and reach of its programming across all environments.
The partnership will include the provision of all France Télévisions’ national and local news editions as well as its flagship daily and weekly news and investigative magazines. Enhanced editorialisation of content will be delivered, with channels organised by programme and theme, while 100 per cent native original content will also be featured.
In an effort to protect against misinformation and manipulated content, YouTube will facilitate the adoption of Likeness ID, its tool for detecting AI-generated content using non-consensual image or identities.
Commenting on the announcement, Delphine Ernotte Cunci, chairwoman and CEO of France Télévisions, said, “This strategic partnership with YouTube accelerates France Télévisions’ ‘streaming first’ strategy. In an ultra-competitive video landscape and faced with the increasing exposure of the French population to misinformation, it strengthens the reach of France Télévisions’ news content to all audiences, including those furthest removed from traditional media.”
Justine Ryst, MD of YouTube France, said, “We are proud of this strategic partnership with France Télévisions and convinced of the perfect complementarity between YouTube and the public service broadcasters’ channels. We are committed to supporting the ambitions of the France Télévisions group by putting our technology at the service of information and the reach of its content.
