Tan France debuted a new hair color on April 29.<\/p>\n

“I just need to make it clear: This is not a midlife crisis,” he said in an Instagram video.<\/p>\n

The Queer Eye star said that his transformation is “for a role.”<\/p>\n

Ever since Tan France<\/a> burst onto the scene in Netflix\u2019s Queer Eye<\/a>, he\u2019s been known for his signature silver hair<\/a>. But now, he\u2019s completely switched up his look, and the transformation is very unexpected. On April 29, the 43-year-old reality star posted a video on Instagram with noticeably darker hair.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t freak out,\u201d France said at the start of the video. \u201cI know my hair is dark. It\u2019s fine. Well, it\u2019s not. I know it’s very weird to see me with dark hair. It’s weird to see myself with dark hair.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Deli Boys actor said the new look is \u201cfor a role,\u201d but didn\u2019t specify which project it was for. He also clarified that the dark hair is \u201cnot a midlife crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn’t going to tell you. I wasn\u2019t going to share this at all, but I’ve been out twice in the last couple of days, and people are very confused. So, I just need to make it clear: This is not a midlife crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

France continued, \u201cI hate dark hair on me. I love my silver hair. Just know, I love my grays. I\u2019m not ashamed of them whatsoever. I\u2019m really proud of my grays. This is just for work and I’m gonna go right back\u2014hopefully\u2014to my natural color within the next month or two. Don\u2019t freak out.\u201d<\/p>\n

People in the comments, though, did indeed freak out. Fellow Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski wrote, \u201cmy brain is glitching so hard rn \ud83d\ude43,\u201d to which France responded, \u201cI know, Ant. Mine has been for days now\ud83d\ude02.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gigi Hadid<\/a> also hopped in the comments, writing, \u201cHahahahaha Tannyyyy this is u in a parallel universe \ud83d\ude06\ud83d\ude06\ud83d\ude06\ud83d\ude06.\u201d France then wrote back, \u201cright? I\u2019m so grateful I got to be in the grey haired universe\ud83d\ude02.\u201d<\/p>\n

And as for that role? Actor Rahul Kohli simply wrote, \u201cJames Bond,\u201d and France joked, \u201cbahaha, that\u2019s exactly the role it\u2019s for. Correct \ud83d\ude02.\u201d<\/p>\n

France has previously spoken about his gray hair.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been going gray since I was 12,\u201d he told The Guardian<\/a> in 2021. \u201cPeople assume I\u2019m older than I am, which is frustrating. I still feel 21, but when I get out of bed, my knees creak and I think: \u2018How am I nearly 40?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
