{"id":11513,"date":"2026-05-04T17:51:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T17:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/11513\/"},"modified":"2026-05-04T17:51:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T17:51:07","slug":"captura-wins-supplier-deal-for-esaf-plant-in-france-using-ocean-captured-co2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/11513\/","title":{"rendered":"Captura Wins Supplier Deal For eSAF Plant In France Using Ocean-Captured CO2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>California-based <a href=\"https:\/\/capturacorp.com\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/capturacorp.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Captura<\/a>, which specializes in direct ocean capture (DOC) technology, has been selected to supply the carbon dioxide (CO2) feedstock for a new facility at the Port of Port-La-Nouvelle in southern France, to be developed by a Franco-Canadian consortium led by <a href=\"https:\/\/safplusconsortium.com\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/safplusconsortium.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SAF+ International Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Annual production is projected at 75,000 tonnes of electro-sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF), produced by combining green hydrogen with CO2 captured directly from the ocean.<\/p>\n<p>The fuel would carry a roughly 90% reduction in emissions compared with conventional kerosene, and would be compatible with existing aircraft under ASTM D7566 and FT-SPK certification standards, according to SAF+ International Group and Captura.<\/p>\n<p>The project is designed in part to help airlines meet obligations under <a href=\"https:\/\/transport.ec.europa.eu\/transport-modes\/air\/environment\/refueleu-aviation_en\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/transport.ec.europa.eu\/transport-modes\/air\/environment\/refueleu-aviation_en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RefuelEU<\/a>, the European Union\u2019s regulation requiring increasing blends of sustainable aviation fuel from 2025 onward, with eSAF-specific mandates taking effect in 2030.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c2030 is just around the corner!
