Two months ago, the 26-year-old British singer was playing her final show as the support act for the veteran performer’s band Florence + the Machine in Berlin on March 9 when Welch, 39, decided to jump on stage with Paloma.<\/p>\n
That moment, where the pair sung Paloma’s viral hit, “Labour,” was caught on camera and has more than 16 million views on TikTok<\/a> at the time of publication.<\/p>\n “It was [Florence’s] idea. It was so incredibly gracious for her to suggest it,” Paloma \u2014 who dropped her new single, “Stem the Flow<\/a>” Friday, May 8 \u2014 told PEOPLE.<\/p>\n Speaking to PEOPLE before the announcement, which included news of her North American tour, Paloma said the “highlight” of the tour was “definitely” singing her own song with Welch.<\/p>\n “You feel like you’re on drugs when something like that happens,” she described of the moment.<\/p>\n “I’d not gone down the catwalk [on stage] … and she turned to me during sound when we were singing and she was like, “I’m going to take you down the catwalk,” … so she held my hand and we walked down the catwalk. And then I turn around and we’re just on the big screen,” Paloma said.<\/p>\n “So I’m simultaneously holding hands with Florence walking down and also watching myself holding hands with Florence and walking down like the stage in on an enormous screen and I was like that, ‘God, my life is ridiculous.'”<\/p>\n Paris Paloma and Florence Welch in March 2026 Paloma, originally from Derbyshire, described Florence, an artist she looks up to, as a “wonderful individual” who is “so fun” and “free.”<\/p>\n “I learned from her that that you can be totally vulnerable and you don’t need to become this untouchable, unemotional person to be as much of a legend as she is, because she is still this living breathing human … you feel so comfortable [with] her,” she told PEOPLE.<\/p>\n “I really appreciated that. It just felt like a field trip every night watching her play. I just want to be a great performer like she is, desperately.
