*Paris Jackson has scored a significant legal victory against the estate of her late father, with a retired judge ordering the return of $625,000 in attorney bonus payments while also restructuring how the estate\u2019s billions can be spent on legal fees going forward, Deadline<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n Ex-probate judge and current referee Mitchell Beckloff issued the ruling on April 29, siding squarely with the 28-year-old. \u201cMs. Jackson\u2019s objection to the $625,000 of bonus payments made in the second six months of 2018 is sustained,\u201d Beckloff wrote. \u201cThe bonus payments are not approved; they are disallowed. The payments shall be returned to the estate.\u201d<\/p>\n Beyond the repayment order, Beckloff imposed new restrictions on attorney compensation. Under the new order, attorney bonuses require sign-off from every beneficiary or must be sanctioned by the court before they can be issued. Attorney fees are now subject to a split structure \u2014 the estate can release 70 percent as work is performed, but the balance must sit until a court signs off.<\/p>\n When Jackson died in 2009, the estate carried roughly $500 million in debt before eventually becoming a multi-billion-dollar enterprise. The estate, run by executors John Branca and John McClain, reacted to the ruling, stating, \u201cUltimately, while we disagree with the decision, we fully respect it and plan to move forward accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n Paris Jackson\u2019s camp offered a sharply different tone. \u201cParis has always been focused on what\u2019s best for her family and this ruling is a massive win for them,\u201d a spokesperson said. \u201cAfter years of delay, the Jackson family will finally get the transparency and accountability measures Paris has fought for.\u201d<\/p>\n The statement also took direct aim at Branca: \u201cThe Jackson Estate is supposed to be a prudent, fiscally responsible entity that supports the Jackson family \u2013 not a slush fund to help John Branca live out his Hollywood mogul fantasies.
